So many negative threads here and I get it, it’s human nature. We focus on negative things because that’s what helps us survive.

So this is to post more positive things.

A year or so ago I was at a Del Taco and there was a homeless guy standing near the front. One of the workers who was on break went up to the front and told him to go ahead and order what he wanted. He asked if it was okay to get a certain burrito meal and she said “yes”.

From what I gather from that interaction, employees get free or discounted meals during their shifts and she gave hers to him. I found that heartwarming because she chose to feed him instead of herself. And it looks like she does that regularly.

I asked AI about designing a “circular food economy”. Basically the premise was to give food places tax breaks/credits for donating food at the end of day to local shelters/pantries/families instead of throwing it away. This idea sort of already exists with TooGoodToGo but instead of consumers purchasing discounted food, it would be donated to feeding the needy. Could even use ridehare to solve the transportation issues to deliver food to those who can’t get to a distribution location.

Pipe dream? Probably… but it would be nice to leverage technology to help businesses with costs, assist local governments with social outreach, reduce food waste, feed the hungry and support the economy.

The Del Taco near us gives a 10% employee discount. Might depend on the franchise though.

I think we have a movie thread somewhere but will just use this one:

We saw there were going to be quite a few movies this year so we got the Regal Unlimited pass and it's been pretty good. Movies that we have watched so far:

Project Hail Mary - 5 Thumbs down (if you saw the movie, you'll get this), saw it twice
Michael - 3.5 (movie/music was great, despite his controversies)
Devil Wears Prada 2 - 3.5 Nostalgic
In The Grey - 4 Good action movie from Guy Ritchie
The Mandalorian and Grogu - 4 Despite mixed reviews, I thought it was good for a Star Wars movie not part of the Skywalker saga

We didn't know if we should do the AMC Unlimited vs Regal but AMC only has one location close by and they are always booked (though they have good seats). Don't really like most of the seats in Regal theaters but turns out the VIP ones in Spectrum are really good and although the theaters are smaller, it's doesn't have too many people (though sometimes you want that for crowd reaction) and Regal does not upcharge for VIP tickets. The other plus is they deliver concessions to your seat. The one con is Regal charges you 50c for each ticket you book on the app (AMC doesn't do that).

I would probably go more but would have to be by myself because I would watch all the brainless action movies that are out. :)
