Reading some tweets saying its 3 acres and threatening some homes being built.  I think the fire started from some mulch at the Irvine Blvd exit off the 133.  The homes must be the Pavilion Park build?  Seeing helicopters swaying by above in the strong winds.

Small mulch fire off irvine blvd exit 261 (near NP square), knocked down and freeway reopened.

Another fire (but under control) near 241 tomato springs toll plaza (near Portola Springs)

I could see this from my second story window... Looked like it was only 2-3 miles away and they had 3 helicopters flying back and forth dropping water.

Is this fully out now?  I wasn't sure but when I opened my windows last night, there was a peculiar odor. Anyone else notice anything?  I wasn't sure if it was due to the fires or my neighbors cooking stinky fish.  :P

What if the fire spreads to the landfill?  What contingencies do they have in place?

I don't know what contingency they have over there but just think all the methane gas the landfill produce, it will become the biggest fire pit in the world.

If it happen, Irvine will have it's own volcano.

Actually, the landfill does a great job of venting and reusing the methane.  I believe it powers all of the garbage trucks there.

Now if there's a fire near Orchard Hills...that will be really unfortunate.
The last big fires burned a large area near Orchard Hills. You could see if from Portola Parkway.

I was calling it "Scorchard Hills".
