seems to be some distaste for orangetree homes just based on a quick search for the term?

what don't people like about the neighborhoods?

That community is kind of "gimpy" compared to other Irvine communities. But if you live there, you can use the 2 public access parks in Oak Creek just across the street, and walk to IVC college.

Another is El Camino Real, specifically the part next to the high voltage lines + rail road tracks.
 
Orangetree's strength is that it is quiet, out-of-the-way yet in the mild of Irvine, and affordable. It’s weakness is that the houses and people are older.
