I'm planning to go to this place: http://www.alpinevillage.net/oktoberfest.htm

Have you guys/gals been there? Other recommendations?

Cheers!

I haven't been there but I have been to the one at Old World Village in Huntington Beach and had a great time:

Hi Rocker,

I went a few years ago, I would grade it a "C". It was o.k., but so packed it took you 15 minutes to get a beer ! I would try the H.B. one that zovall suggested if you had to choose.

Myself and some other folks are going here fairly soon:

I've never been on the weekend, but on the Thursday we went a few years ago we closed the place down.

Maybe it's changed, but I did the Old World one in HB, the one Zovall mentioned, and it was exactly the same. Worse IMHO, young, drunk, stupid and a 9:1 guy/girl ratio of the cream of HB surf-punk culture.

Off course, I went at night, maybe the daylight brings a different crowd.

I did them both a few years back and Old World Village was better than Alpine Village. I also found that it's better to go during the day - maybe late afternoon.

Old World also has the Dachshund races which always are a plus in my book.

There is a nice one held in Big Bear. You can make it a cool weekend getaway. Seemed more traditional and classy than the Beerfest at Alpine Village.

if youre willing to drive, i hear oktoberfest in downtown san diego is really great. you can take a bus/shuttle between a number of bars that are celebrating oktoberfest.
