Maybe for the minorities - not any more. MD is a b-tier private school for academics. Parish schools, even Bellarmine in San Jose (#1 school for amount of USC admits) reserve the majority of slots for members of the parish. USC recruits heavily from the Bay Area these days for top achievers and SoCal inner city and low income areas for their DEI quotient. They offered this alum’s kid the “Trojan Transfer Program” but he chose an upper tier Big 10 school.

Oh you mean boarding schools sure - Webb in Claremont or Army Navy in Carlsbad . La Costa Canyon also sends a ton of kids to USC - really kick ass high school. Best private schools in LA are Pasadena Polytechnic and Harvard Westlake. Louisville, Westridge and Mayfield for all girls.
