<p>Excerpt from City of Tustin MCAS Tustin Specific Plan/Reuse Plan Re: The New Schools that will serve the Villages of Columbus</p>

<p>"Four local school sites are reserved on the Land Use Plan to accommodate the student population growth estimated by the affected school districts in Tustin and Irvine. The location, size, and configuration on the Land Use Plan is generalized. The actual school sites will be determined when the land is conveyed to the school districts by the Department of the Navy or LRA (in the event of an Economic Development Conveyance). Within the Tustin Unified School District, two 10-acre elementary schools(K-6) and one 40-acre high school are planned. Within the Irvine Unified School District, a 20-acre elementary school (K-8) is planned at the cornerof Barranca Parkway and Harvard Avenue. "</p>

<p> </p>

<p> </p>

<p>Hello! Can you read? The article just says new schools are being built. And that those schools will be in TUSD and IUSD. Yes - parts of Columbus Grove will be served by IUSD - the article does not state otherwise.</p>

<p>The folks on the IUSD side of the VOC stated that they will stay in IUSD for at least the next 50 years and the lines will not be redrawn until then ... because of some school bond they floated. </p>

<p>So if you believe them, that is reassuring ... for those who are moving there for the school district</p>

Holy Necrotitis Batman!

I don't think the K-8 school on Barranca and Harvard is still a go... they built a SELF school there (alternative education).

As for the schools on the west side of Jamboree in the TUSD... those probably won't be built for a while because the residential development has been slowed.

Better than starting a new thread!

Probably after all the little kids that currently live in Columbus Square are already livin' la vida loca at Tustin High.

Million dollar homes and an average of around 725 API for the elementary, middle, and high school trifecta. Nice...

maybe the children in the million dollar homes will raise the test scores at the 725 API schools and Tustin High will become the new Uni (or beckman or northwood).

it's the age old question - did the kids have high test scores because they went to good schools or did the schools have high test scores because they had the smartest kids?

The kids make the scores but considering the lower income areas of Tustin served by the same schools, I expect the quality of education for those CS kids to be considerably inferior to that of their socio-economic peers at IUSD schools.

West Irvine built during the mid 90's were attracting the lower income families. Many ridiculed this neighborhood and its citizens. 15 years later the schools serving West Irvine are among the highest in test score and performance. As much I do not like VoC I hope the children who live there will result in the same successful outcome like West Irvine. I will bring free fruits to reward them.

West Irvine was the underdog and both parents and students tried very hard to gain the academic reputation. Going to a good school does not mean guaranteed academic success to the kids. Parent's involvement makes a world of difference.

Wait until all the Hicks Canyon overflow is gone from Myford... The API will probably drop by 5%!

By that time my daughter and IR2's son will be rolling into the Myford API. I see a 1000 in the future of Myford...

The ancient Chinese tradition of pre-arrange marriage is coming to West Irvine.

I suspect that parents who are buying million dollar homes will demand and receive special accommodations for their brilliant babies. Plus I'm guess they will have the resources to provide extras that the school district lacks funding for.

Ghey and fugly...a kid sporting that backpack would be asking for a beatdown, especially if it was a boy.

Guess he won't be moving the API curve...

Maybe I should get him this one instead?
