They are planning to replace an existing non-disguise cell tower located at that UC Agricultural and Extension Center (corner of Irvine Blvd and Lambert Rd.) with a new one that looks like an Eucalyptus tree.

The old tower is only for 2 carriers, Sprint & AT&T, and the new Eucalyptus tree tower is going to have 3 carriers, Sprint, AT&T and Verizon.

Tonight when I drove past this part of Irvine, they were working on the construction.  They had lights up, multiple construction vehicles (with lights on top), and a huge crane.  This is at 8pm on a Friday... I wonder what the rush is.
 
They are in a rush probably because they have several other project line up.  iIRC, there are at least two more cell tower project going on in Irvine and who knows how many more in rest of OC.

Received the notice in the mail about the location of the new cell tower now moved to the northeast side of the UC site right across from the Legado and Silverleaf homes.  I suggest anyone living in PS3 to try to attend the meeting on March 2nd if they're concerned.

Oh man the area badly needs the coverage
 
I feel you on the coverage as I get 2 bars on both my Verizon and AT&T lines (though I have yet to drop a call on either).  I just dont see why it has to be so close to those homes now.  The signal would still be 4-5 bars strong at the northwest side.
