Anyone get the new apple tv yet, and if so, have you taken a look at the appstore? Just curious as to whether people are buying apps over there, or using it more for iTunes stuff, and Netflix.

I just got the Apple TV 4th gen 64 gb.

Retail price $199

Radio shack its $169 and it includes a free hdmi cord.
I tried to price match at staples since they have a 110% price match, but she wouldn't throw in the free hdmi cable like radio shack.

what is the benefit of apple TV, what can it do??? I got it as a xmas gift, haven't opened it yet and had no time to look into all the features.

In general:

1.  Free content (numerous channels)
2.  Paid content (subscription channels, movies, TV series)
3.  Cable TV subscriber content (current cable TV subscribers have access to enhanced content)
 
Screen mirroring from your I-Device. We use it all the time. Watched Amazon's "The Man In The High Tower" from Soylent Red's Iphone. No real reason then that I can see to get an Amazon Fire.

If you can't use it, I'm accepting any and all charitable donations.....
 
We got one. Mainly so we can stream wirelessly from our mac or phone. The apps for it are still a bit sparse but hopefully will get better.

The Apple TV 4th gen remote has Siri button. So you can say ESPN and the ESPN App will open. You can turn on and off your tv and control the volume with the Apple remote.
