They are the same people. Most white Australians migrated from Europe. Colonization began when they shipped their convicts over to Australia.

Yeah, I feel you. I want a wrong-side-of-the-tracks Cockney accent to boot. Just like Eliza Dolittle in My Fair Lady.  But I'll settle for Adele's. Duchess of Cambridge is a little too prim and proper for me.

Changing your accent is easy enough. Your ethnicity, not so much. Just start speaking with one. Like Nicki Minaj. (Ironic. I thought you said she annoyed the daylights out of you.)

I'd definitely choose golf.  The pay is very high for elite competitors and this is a sport that you can do well into old age.

I would love to be a great basketball player though.
