Virgin will use biodiesel in test flight

A Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747-400 will become the first commercial aircraft to fly on biofuel, later this month, in an historic flight from London to Amsterdam.

Although no passengers will be on board, the contents of the plane's gas tank will have everyone in the airline industry watching. (...) Airline industry officials, environmentalists and energy companies all have a huge interest in the future of air travel as it pertains to fuel consumption, carbon emissions and global warming.

From the business perspective, the airlines are under great financial pressure because of soaring fuel costs; the price of crude oil is consistently flirting with $100 per barrel. On the environmental side of things, aircraft represent up to 12 percent of greenhouse gas emissions produced by the U.S. transportation sector, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.

Additionally, according to the Federal Aviation Administration, greenhouse gas emissions from domestic aircraft are expected to increase 60 percent by 2025. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change estimates that increases in air transportation over the next 50 years will result in a threefold increase in aircraft CO{-2} emissions and a 13 percent increase in ozone.

There was a fascinating useless fact story on tv about human chimera. They are formed when 2 developing human embryos merge early on into one person. Some look completely normal until for one reason or another they have DNA testing done.

Long story short this lady was found to be not the genetic mother of 2 of her 3 sons. Much science and many blood and tissue tests later, it was found that the parents of the 2 sons were her husband and her. . . father. Yep, I don't k now where the egg came from, but 2 men had a baby. Presumably genetic material from her dad got into her egg cells. Or, something.

Another lady appled for welfare, and they did genetic testing to make sure her boyfriend was the dad. He was. But genetic testing was done on her and she wasn't her children's genetic mother. And accused of welfare fraud, and that she really didn't give birth to her kids or she was implanted with someone else's eggs. She was pregnant, and the judge sent someone to observe the birth and take tests. She wasn't the genetic mother of that kid either. More accusations. Many tests and science broodings later, it was found that her mother was the genetic mother of the kids. So she was, genetically speaking the half sister of her children!! And her dad had no biological relationship to them at all. Makes you wonder, don't it?
 
I skimmed half of a Feng Shui book once. Half of it was design principles I learned in design class in college. That looks far more attractive than the average Mickey D's.
