Monday Fun Day - Beating the Monday Blues

What's the scariest thing that has ever happened to you?

Come on, now. Don't reply all at once. Let's take turns.

I guess we'll just stick with the happy stuff next time.

When I was 4 years old... My aunt was babysitting me and she brought me out to LA Chinatown to buy groceries.  She turned her head for about a few seconds from watching me and this older Asian man grabs my arm, covers my mouth and tries to drag me into an alley.  I bit the man in the palm as he was dragging me down the alley and he let go, I screamed out for help and luckily a few by standers saw what was going on and quickly came to my rescue.

Scariest time of my life besides being told to buy now or be priced out forever....

That is crazy! Everyone knows you always cup your hand over a person's mouth to prevent being bitten. What a novice he is. Yeesh!

worked as a teller during college. first day on the job, guy hands me a note that read "give me all the cash in your drawer or i'll shoot you."
thought i was going to die.

Don't leave us hanging. How did it play out??

Cliffhanger: Did she die or live? Stay tune.

Hmm... when I shook irvinehomeshopper's hand the first time I met him... I noticed a small bite scar on his palm.

My scar was not from kidnapping some scrawny kid in Chinatown it was from beating a large and ugly kid in Harbor City at a Chinese Donut Star shop. I might have traumatized that kid forever and he never returned. His post traumatic stress includes the fear of travelling outside of his comfort zone, unable to drive at night to unfamiliar places, can't drive long distances, extreme perspiration in seeing chain link fences and alleys and afraid of driving freeways with even numbers.

:D Yeah, I'm going to take a wild guess that Kalbi lived through that event. I was thinking more along the lines of: Was there a hostage situation? Any shots fired?  Was the robber given any money like the dye-pack you see in the movies.  :)

I just can't think of anything! It must be that A) I'm super brave, and nothing scares me, B) I did have a scary experience at some point but I've blocked it out, or C) I live in Irvine where nothing scary ever happens.

D.All of the above :)

Scariest moment in hindsight - I was in college and on 125th street (Malcolm X and MLK Blvd intersection...) getting a new social security card. I head outside and a guy pulls a knife on me and says "money money money" in DAYLIGHT. Not thinking, I punched the guy in the face and knocked him to the ground and did my best impression of a body slam. Plenty of people came over to help me out and keep him pinned until officers arrived. Once the adrenalin wore off I realized it was probably a dumb idea to fight a mugging and decided I would no longer venture out there without a buddy.

i gave him all the cash in my drawer (since it was my first day, the bank capped my drawer limit at $2K), pressed the buzzer, and he got busted in less than 10 minutes.
luckily for me, it turned out to be quite uneventful.
