"Shopping Trip"

If you could spend $50,000 guilt-free on anything, what would it be? You may add links or photos if applicable.

Edit: I've altered the game to allow more sharing & speed things up. If you have an answer you want to share, just go ahead and post it. It's a free-for-all.

How much do Donut Star / Wok Express franchises cost? :D

I heard those weren't profitable...
Hey... it's $50k guilt-free... I'm not looking for profits... just all I can eat donuts and chow mein.

Except I'll make sure to add a drive-thru just in case.  ;)

How about kitchen and master bath update (no bidet)?

There was already a drive thru, the driver wanted a quicker access through the serving stations directly to the kitchen.  ???

I will just pick up something like this at Costco and be done :P
With tax, under 50k, and I will get the cash back to spend on some little sparkly thing later on.

+1 for traveling.

I fondly remember our Summer trips to get to our large (300+ member) family reunions in Monticello, IN (and then continued on to Baltimore, MD and back). We drove many different routes and saw all kinds of sights. I would love to get the chance to take my boys to see some of the sights that this country still offers, and would love to see how much has changed.

Places/attractions would include:
Grand Canyon
Snake River
NYC
St. Louis Arch
Washington DC
Hannibal, MO
Wall Drug :-)
Everglades
Alcatraz
Pfeiffer - Big Sur
Crater Lake
Dodge City
South Beach
New Orleans
Omaha
Cooperstown
Wisconsin Dells
Austin
Big D
Kern River Valley
Colorado Springs
Yellowstone
The Ozarks
Boston
Sun Valley
Salt Lake City
Fargo
Mt. Rushmore
Stone Mountain (Atlanta, GA)
Glacier National Park
Slide Rock
St. Augustine
any/all Civil War points of interest
Jackson, WY
Some of the Amish Villages (Dutch Country, PA?)
Saratoga, NY

I'm sure I've missed some others but that's what comes to mind off-hand.

Would also love to travel internationally, as well, but I don't think the $50K would go as far.

The tough part right now is making the time, on top of the financial costs... but you said guilt-free :-)

Travel is always a wonderful idea... but really, I don't think any of us have stopped traveling because of the costs- it's mostly the time..
Of course those who want to do it will find ways to do it. There was a story about a family who traveled around the world for a year and they home-schooled their children. They took a year off from their careers.

Whoah... drive-thru donuts and chinese food?

Okay... that's it... I'm passing by to get some deep fried fat and take pictures.

Back on topic:

I think $50k will get a family through most of Europe while staying in the best hotels for the better part of the summer.

$50k of Apple stock?

i would say travel as well but its the time, not the dollars thats stops the travel.  we spent 5 weeks hopping across 5 countries in europe with our 5 month old last summer (not sure how everything ended up in 5's :) ) and we didnt skimp on hotels and she had a ticket on all planes and trains and total came out to under $15K.  $50K would have basically got us first class on all the planes, had a private guide the whole time, bigger suites, and a nanny to give us some evening time.  but then again, that doesnt seem as fun or bonding as our trip was...

setting aside travel, i would buy a classic car meant purely for fun.  something like a shelby cobra replica...

Use the money to start my own restaurant called Scoops, all foods here is eaten with a spoon (no forks or knives, chop sticks available).  It's a lazy men restaurant.  Fried rice, cereal, soups, tofu pot, porridge, cubed steak, risotto, teriyaki bowls, etc.  absolutely no noodles or any meat with bones.  Chairs will be recliners with big screen tvs spread throughout.

Million-dollar idea right there. Very good. Also, reminds me of the movie "Wall-E" where the fatsos sit in the comfy chairs, sipping their meal out of a cup w/ a thick straw. All the details are right there even down to the T.V.s.  ;)

Thinking more of the movie Idiocracy...  Anyone want to pool our $50k together?
