Mike D'Antoni resigns as Lakers coach

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
They should have just kept dantoni for the next two years that Kobe is there. Now they will suck for the next two years and they will have another new coach in two years.

Re-signs or resigns?

That's the mistake Ben Lyons and Metta World Peace kept making on ESPN710 last night.

The Lakers made the right move, No D asked for the 4th year option on his contract, Lakers said "No" because they didn't want to guarantee that money to him and he took his ball and went home.

The big question is who are they going to replace him with? Magic Johnson?

It doesn't matter who they replace him with. They could bring in Phil Jackson, the next two years are toast.

So you have joined me on the dark side and believe that until Kobe leaves, the Lakers won't be good again?

Yes my young Paduan... yes.

Yeah I didn't they shoyld have resigned him. In fact I wanted them to amnesty him when they had the chance. As long as he is here they won't get an A free agent. Well there is a small chance since they only have to put up with his shit for two years

So, who's available that's reasonable or poachable?  I assume Jackson is out unless they pay his new team 300 mil and top drafts for the next 10 years?

John Ireland feels they need to hire a big name because it's the Lakers and they want to attract free agents... Calipari, Gundy etc.

Mark Willard thinks they should go with a new guy like Derek Fisher or Kevin Ollie.

I think Kobe should just be player/coach so he can only blame himself. :)

i dont think any college coach would work. im personally a fan of Jeff Van Gundy, even his brother would suffice. Not sure Fisher is ready to coach, i hope they dont go with byron scott, not sure he can really coach. Fish may be a decent back up option but something seems weird about a guy retiring one year and coaching the next.

Fisher is a natural leader and he does command the respects of players and fans.  I wouldn't mind seeing Mr 0.4 on the sidelines.

The best choice is Steve Kerr.
He's tapped for the Knicks. Which is fine... he has zero coaching experience, college or NBA.

Steve is well qualified to be a coach in my opinion.
NBA player, NBA analyst, President and GM of the Suns. Also, Steve has 5 rings. (3 with the Bulls and 2 with the Spurs)
