Manscaping

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
Okay, 26, you get a pass wearing socks w/ sandals for that sporting purpose. Just not out to eat.  :)

your feet shouldnt smell if you only wear flip flops as your feet should stay dry and bacteria shouldnt grow.

and lazy was for restaurants...there is definitely clothing that i look better in with flip flops than with shoes.  cargo shorts and a graphic tee with tennis shoes makes me look like a dork.  actually tennis shoes with any clothing outside of sports wear is much uglier to me than flip flops.

Other casual close-toed shoes besides tennis shoes do exist. For example, try some boat shoes. They have come back into fashion. Get some no-reveal socks to go with them. They look great with shorts and a t-shirt! You can dress them up or down. They are also slip-on, so they will be convenient for you. They are a rubber-soled shoe like the lace-ups you're used to.

Another idea is a pair of old school Vans.  ;) I do see guys wearing those all the time. They don't seem to be very durable, though.

Rkp: for pants, try a pair of slip-on leather loafers. Dockers makes a pair called ProStyle that Mr. SoCal swears is more comfortable than his Nikes. They are very flexible and cushioned well. This would like nice anywhere, especially the office or out.

another one for manscaping - how often do you guys shave?  i hate shaving and somehow managed to go 4 months without shaving before my wife gave me the ultimatum :)

if i am not being lazy, my cadence is every other day but i find myself shaving once a week

i a co-worker of mine had the laser hair removal done across his face!  he never has to shave but its way tooo smooth and shiny all the time

Hey... let's get this clear first... face shaving <> manscaping.

Plucking, body shaving, leg shaving, manis, pedis, facials, non-moustache/beard/sideburn trimming all fall into the manscaping category.

4 months without shaving? You must of looked like a Sikh!!! (pc commentary: I actually have some friends who are Sikh)

I like shaving with a razor because it's fast... but the SO prefers stubble... so I have to use a trimmer and just shave the other parts. Probably use the trimmer once or twice a week... and shave daily.

Interesting! I always wondered why men don't come up with a permanent idea. So much time and money is wasted in shaving.

We need our rituals.

And I think we spend less time and money than our counterparts (I have yet to use a moisturizer or defoliating cream). :)

i shave every day, most of the time though i just do a quick shave, meaning i just shave downward. When i only shave downward and i rub my hand up my face you can still feel some stubble. For special events i do a clean shave, meaning up and down and then my face is as smooth as a babys but. The quick one takes me less than 5 minutes, the clean shave takes me 10-15.

RKP - i have thought of doing laser hair removal for my face as well but have not known anyone to try it. Do you know how much is cost and how long it took? This is probably a stupid question but any side effects?

You will never be able to look like this guy:

laser hair removal for face - no idea on cost but the side effect and this is a big one- you never have a 5'oclock  shadow so a bit too feminine for me.  other side effect as with any laser treatment is possible scarring.  my wife had her tat laser removed and got some bad scarring...its actually cool cause it looks like a raised color-less tat now but thats a different story

and sorry IHO but shaving is part of manscaping.  some of my hunting buddies look like they live off the grid and would call us girly men for shaving every day.

CZ - i get facials once a year when we do our relaxation vacation but nothing regular on the face.

I put this link yesterday but removed it again since it was about women, not men.
The ad was withdrawn, and there is enough said/written about this topic, but here it is, just for fun.. how do such products get made? how is the demographics study done?

I disagree.

Shaving predates manscaping. My definition of manscaping is anything beyond hair/moustache/beard (which is why eyebrows fall into that).

Do your hunting friends cut their hair at all?

HA! Now you're using my manscaping logic! Next you're going to ask if they brush their teeth! Welcome to Team: Manscape!

fair point.  i guess givens for men include shaving and cutting hair.

but here is an example where it goes from regular to manscaping on hair cuts.  one of my friends gets a cleanup on the neck and around the ears *every* week.  well actually every other cause he gets a full hair cut every 2 weeks.  would you not consider that manscaping?

and to add to the bad habits of men...or just me...longest you have gone without a shower and not talking about college days but full on adulthood.  mine would be 4 nights.  my wife hated me and only way i could continue was by calling it an experiment :)

You must not have much facial hair to speak of.

Most women I know, including myself, find it very painful to snuggle a man with scruff especially if they have heavy, thick hair. Kissing hurts so bad. It feels like being attacked by a bed of nails. My face has been rubbed raw, on the verge of bleeding. It looks like I was in a fight with a cactus and the cactus won! I learned my lesson. Even if it's just a hug, I can feel the whiskers poke through my clothes and stab me. That's what it's like being married to an Italian!

every time my wife tells me she made an appointment for a facial, i always make the comment that i can give her one for free. she never seems to find that one funny.

I honestly started this thread with the intent to provide helpful tips on grooming. A place where guys could trade info. From eyebrows to haircuts. We even made our way to footwear. But I am uncomfortable with the direction it's gone in now. This thread is locked.

Everybody's had a chance to put their mind on other things now. Let's try getting back on topic when everybody comes back after the weekend break.

We were last talking about facial hair.

I love short goatees on men if they can pull it off i.e. can actually grow a beard.

How many of you guys typically wear facial hair of any kind? Please no Tom Sellek mustaches or full beards. They are so outdated yet I see them every once in a while. Sometimes even trendy men wear them as a kitschy throwback.
