This 2 bedroom house was offered $14mil. and the original owners did not want to sell it. During the peak of the bubble I learned the offer was as high as $20 Million and the owners held on to it.

Since the house was built on the edge of a hill the frontal garage was not avoidable. I admire the honesty of its location by expressing it as a carport/covered patio in avoiding owner garage abuse. During the 50's and early 60's car culture peaked in America. The tail end of the cars were extremely ornamental and designed with extreme sculptural expression. The idea of the carport was to have weather protection from above but not concealing the aesthetic of the cars tail end. This honesty and purity in design was the merit that made this home even more special.

A well design house modest in size designed with purity commands prices much more than a custom home 10 times its size. It is not the size of a diamond that matters but its clarity and color that set its class.
