Since we have been talking about athletes and lies... what do you guys think of Lance Armstrong?

It's funny... because some sports radio guys are questioning if he really had testicular cancer.

from all accounts, the guy was prick.  but he still did raise a lot of money for cancer research and has helped a lot of people afflicted with cancer. i believe most people can compartmentalize and will look at him for what it is, he is a horrible person (would sue and financially ruin people who accused him of taking steroids), but did do some good/great things as well.  the most interesting point i heard someone make was on 710 espn radio, some caller pointed out that pablo escobar did a lot of good things with dirty money, is it ok that the good things were done with ill gotten gains? Granted Escobar killed a lot people so not quite apples to apples, but for discussion sake, what if escobar never killed anyone or had anyone killed?

I read his book 'It's not about the bike', and was mighty impressed.
So, what happens next? His titles will be stripped- will they be awarded to the next person in line, or is it done and gone?

Titles already stripped. Not awarded to anyone else. The guys that lost to him were also cheaters

Yeah... the way it's being presented (and probably true) is that the top riders in the Tour were all doping... so Lance *had* to use PEDs in order to keep up with the rest of the field.

Does that excuse him? No. But at the same time... it doesn't warrant crucifying him either... for using. For lying... that's a different story.

Just like baseball, this is a big cloud over biking and the Tour... is the NBA next?

At least the one plus is how much money was raised for fighting cancer... it will be interesting to see where LiveStrong goes from here.

If he was going to lie, I would think he'd pick a less "personal" cancer.

You've got to wonder about Sheryl Crow and how much she knew. They were engaged at the time he won two Tour De France races.
