Libraries for Homework

There was an accident close to our house yesterday and the road was shut down for a few hours. So we decided to go the library, and get a head start with homework. The place was so crowded, kids were sharing tables with other families (I mostly see empty tables during weekends and weeknights when I go to the library). Age of the kids ranged preschoolers to highschoolers.  Wondering, if kids can concentrate better at a place free of distractions like library, or is there any other reason? Anyone take their kids to the library to study/ do homework? If so, please share your reason to do so.

We've done it once or twice... usually for book reports.

The problem is my youngest get noisy and boisterous so it's more detrimental to the library to have them there.  :-X
