I really don't think a snapshot of an economy before a freefall tells you too much about the present.

This is particularly suspect:

$500,000 to $999,999 24,889 + /-1,032 65.90% +/-1.8

$1,000,000 or more 6,239 + /-460 16.50% +/-1.2

Yup, looks like 2005-2007 to me. 82% of the o/o housing stock is not a half-mil+. I'm sure it was sixteen months ago. Nor is the median over 700K. Not even close.

Momopi and the article make good points. Take a look at my current lifestyle. If my take home was another 2k a month, why wouldn't I want to put the majority of that towards a nicer place? I already live a pretty luxurious life. I'm not extravegant by any means, but I don't need a nicer car, I eat out enough, and I'm perfectly happy with my wardrobe and taste in wines and scotch.

At this point extra income is going to go to investments, and/or housing expenses.

You make too much money...charity would be another nice place to put it!

I make a lot less then the majority on this board. I just happen to be single, and don't have *too* expensive taste (wiht the exception of my car I guess). I do put some money to charity, and donate some of my time.

Yep, I donate to several charities and have started a few scholorships. Nothing huge, but enough scholorships.... I tried to keep a semi low cost lifestyle. Its not easy being in SoCal. though.
