Late Night HBO Insight on the OC mentality

So I was on business travel last week and, since I am only human, found myself watching the HBO softcore series about the Bunny Ranch (which for those of you who don't know is a legal Brothel near Reno). So they profiled 3 new girls coming into the bunny ranch and one of them was from, you guessed it, Orange County. She was a really good looking blond who was looking to earn the "Big Money" but would not lower herself to perform some of the acts required for a successful Brother Worker. Here are some quotes...

"So why do you want to work here?"

"I have a really nice house and a nice car and I want to keep them"

"I only want to earn the high class money and won't do (That)"

WTF? You are going to work at a brother because you want to keep your car but you wont do what 1/2 of the clients are interested in?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

WTF?????

Her 1st client, after hearing that she wouldn't do "that", quickly returned for another woman who was all to happy to oblige....
 
I saw that episode many moons ago. That girl did a fantastic job representing OC. She was madly in love with herself, thought she was genuinely better than all of the pros at the Ranch, yet plagued with dysfunction. I truly do not know what she thought men would pay her to do... Stand there and look cute? It appeared to be her highest and best use.

Yep, we have a woman here at work who epotimizes the OC mentatality. She got herself "augmented" and viola! a raise and promotion. Meanwhile, the work piles up.... Yes, we actually have a log book of actions that require her work and sadily, while I have 3, she has in excess of 30 and climbing. Guess they thought promoting her would help her do the job right.

A close friend has been in the executive staffing/recruiting biz for almost a decade. I believe her when she observes that career success in OC is largely predicated on your looks. It's a sad state of affairs. They even have a name for those people: "Eyes and smile" candidates. They can be average at best and yet have no trouble being placed with OC's top firms. She even knows which firms are most likely to hire those candidates.

ObHousing: The Irvine Company is a major offender.
 
bix's story, to me, just proves that men (at least some) are the cause of many women behave the way they do.

Also, I am very sorry to see that many classically trained musician start to wear revealing clothes for concerts and photo shots --they are ones actually make money in the business.

What I find particularly interesting about the OC mentality is that these people do not realize that people outside of OC laugh at them rather than envy them.
