Landfill question

Not sure where to post this but does anyone know if the landfills in our area shred garbage before it ends up in the heap?  I know it's a strange question but I've been buying biodegradable bags so that the trash inside will have a better, easier chance of biodegrading.  I know some areas shred the garbage bags so that helps but I have no idea if ours does.  Since I can't compost due to my non-existent yard, I'm just trying to be as earth friendly as I can.

I've wondered the same thing. I watched a special on TV about how trash is processed. They start by ripping open the garbage bags. They dump the contents onto conveyor belts where people sort the trash by hand, removing recyclables. The rest goes to the landfill. I have no idea if that's a universal process or what. If you find out, let us know.

Paint cans, body parts, batteries and rotten foods disposed in brown trash bin goes directly to the landfill without sorting. Grey Recycle goes to the plant for sorting out the accidental diapers from paper, plastic and cans. Typically the Coastal Canyon Nomadic Tribe would have already emptied the grey bins for valuables before collection. Dog poops, vegetation trimmings, and bad soil in green bin go directly to a shredder for composting.

Thanks Momopi. I looked around their website and found their contact info and thought I would ask here first before calling.  Was the video really necessary though???  ::) ???  The guy's talented but maybe he oughtta invest in a shirt.  And a haircut.

3 landfills to service the entire OC. Frank Bowerman is exclusively for commercial trucks and that means all of OC's household and commercial trash.
The other 2 smaller dumps charge a fee for private dumping.
