Lack of interest in IHB?

I've noticed that the forums have become less active and the comments to blog posts less frequent. Are people less interested in hearing about problems than potential solutions? Or have those who reveled in schadenfreude succumbed to the fate of those they had once looked down upon?



Owning in OC, renting in OC....either way you're still stuck in economically dead OC.
 
How many more times can we discuss whether the "foreign buyers saving Irvine Real Estate myth" is true or not before we get bored. I believe its true and Uni is better than Northwood HS. (I'm kidding don't repond to this)
 
I think there are a couple factors at work. One, housing has come down, and the bears have been generally proven right. Therefore, there is less argument and debate.



However, I think everyone will agree that the general economic problems and the uncertain future is weighing on alot of people.



Even if you're sitting on cash and have a job, if housing does indeed crash another 20-30%, we'll be in Great Depression II and buying a house in Irvine won't be your number one concern.
 
I have noticed these things come and go like the changing tides. According to our statistics, for the last 6 months, the forums have been averaging between 1000 and 1600 visitors per day. It hasn't varied much over the last 6 months.
 
Is it related to the redesign of the website? I still find the other design to be easier (takes you to the last message read) and more like a community (all messages in the same place)
 
When it's time to buy again, expect this forum to explode with activity.

Perhaps a big chunk of the traffic in the past couple months was related to the election?



Does anyone else suffer from using the "View New Posts" link but having it NOT show all the new posts?
 
maybe because people got sick of listening to you naysayers. people buy homes in irvine to live in, because they want to live in them... and they're worth it! we don't make decisions for our families based on charts and numbers and financial voodoo. it was fun for a while but smart, successful homeowners eventually got tired of the rantings of some sour bitter renters.

If we can't make decisions for our families based on evidence and common sense, what can we base our decisions on?
 
you can't put a price on things like a good school district, well-manicured community lawns and commonspaces, easy access to three (THREE!) trader joes, at least half a dozen Targets, and several home depots. can you get that from renting? i think not.

Edited to add: I don't post as many rollbacks as I used to because a) a rollback in the ghetto is now commonplace and boring, and b) I've been really busy.
