Paydawg, what is it that you do, again? Or is that being kept vague? I haven't had a chance to read every post here.

SoCal - read my previous posts. I "think" it is specialized. He never responded when people asked for specifics.

As a non-Caucasian, I find it very difficult to move up the ranks in a organization led almost exclusively by Caucasians.
FYI - My sr. management looks a lot like the leadership at RSM (http://rsmus.com/who-we-are/leadership.html).  I'd like to switch firms, but that's not an easy task.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Just a thought... do you think nepotism is at play here? I know some places specifically have rules against hiring family, usually to prevent collusion, but I've worked at a fairly large company where nepotism was a HUUUUGE problem. Total slackers would get promoted because their sister / brother-in-law was a higher-up and some girls were also sleeping with our boss. People who abused their positions got to keep their jobs, no questions asked. Also, people who were good employees were railroaded. When you mentioned the extended vacations being modeled by your superiors, that was one red flag which made me think about it. So, maybe they are all white because they are literally all related. lol. Hey, crazier things have happened... I've seen it!

I'm in a portfolio management/risk management position working on mortgage-backed securities.  These securities are extremely complex, and as loans started going bad in 2007, the securities unraveled, exposing billions in liabilities and affecting multiple investors (think of the book/movie "The Big Short").  I work on settling all of these liabilities with investors, insurers, mortgage originators, government agencies and other stakeholders.
