Labor Daying?

By the lack of posts the last day or so, it seems that many might be out of town or offline for Labor Day Weekend.

So where is everyone?

For us, while I thought that there would be no Open Houses this weekend, there actually are, so we might check out a few. It's just so darn hot. Why does global warming decide to show up so late in the summer?  It feels like Johns Creek.

LD is also our Summer/BackToSchool cleanup weekend where we figure out what the kids are going to need for the school year and we start putting away the summer stuff... although the kids will still probably want to swim until December if the weather holds up.

It's only 8am and it's already hot... bleh.

Home today.. like IHO catching up with school paperwork, organizing dresser drawers for school, cleaning out the room from summer clutter and mentally preparing for the year :-) catching up with work as well. We went to the Buddhist temple in Hacienda Heights yesterday...Didn't go to the 10 mile hike as planned. Got too hot by the time we woke up.. may be a fall hike. This summer didn't go as active as last one. Oh man- another summer down, I can't swim yet :'(

Garden overhaul
Little Tokyo for Shabu Shabu (KaGaYa - highly recommend)
Shopped for appliances / bought a fridge, dishwasher, and four ceiling fans
Eating Pho for the second day in a row
Watched Grandmaster last night

Aquarium of the Pacific, then sushi (:) ) in ghetto Long Beach (love Irvine!), should've eaten at Roscoes, at least they have security.  Bruxies with out of town friends (pastrami is pretty good), followed by Yamadaya and Confetti in Costa Mesa.  Tomorrow, putting together my zombie combat storage shed.  Hopefully it will cool down more...

So now you are going to post details on which model appliances and fans you went with, right?

Ended up with a Casablanca fan. Not quite ready for the Haiku as of now. Then got 3 Emerson fans for the other rooms.  The fans are simple so I'll see how the design lasts for us.

Bosch  500 series dishwasher @ Pacific Sales ... One of over 100 buyers this weekend, haha

GE Cafe counter depth fridge (has hot water function with four different temp settings, precise fill, and can even load photos into the mini display - may be good to show photos of oneself in his/her fitness peak every time they go to get food  :D)

Still need a lawn mower >:(

@Coleman

Does the Bosch dishwasher use a heating element to dry?

No
The final rinse cycle uses hotter water to heat the plates to create a condensation drying method.
Therefore, you can put plastics anywhere.  Also, it came with the third rack at the top.

So do you have to open the dishwasher to let it dry?  I always wondered how these would work, thinking long term, it can get smelly and moldy?

Are you installing these yourself?  I have 3 to put in next Friday...going to be a sore back day on Sat for sure.

More of a sore neck for me....some manufacturers have the hook to hang the motor unit so a one man install is possible...that is a definite must for any ceiling fan I get.

I have had a Bosch for the past five years and have never had an issue with any mold or smell. Never had any issue with plates not being dry either.  We like our current dishwasher so much that my wife and I never really looked at other brands.

@TD - the handyman is going to do the installs as well as th electrical.  Let me know if you need a helping hand Friday.

I finished up all the school shopping a couple weeks ago.

On Sunday afternoon, we went to the final day of The Sawdust Festival. Got stuck in traffic on Laguna Canyon Road with the rest of O.C. I have a friend who has been urging me to go & inviting me every year for a long time. Lots of overpriced artsy-fartsy hippie stuff. Most of it looks like a monkey, messed up on kush, made it with his toes. Not my thing. At the end of the day I managed to find a couple small cute things and watching a glassblower was pretty cool but overall, I don't feel the need to go back again. Not worth the admission + reserved parking + extras. Blazing hot even in Laguna Beach. Left after a couple hours. Came home, set my A/C to Stun.
