Just what % of the 5%'ers live/buy in Irvine?

I was listening to a video of Barack Obama talking about tax relief ( no this is not political - I listen to both sides). For your reference, here is the 18 minute video: http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/samgrahamfelsen/gG5M9p

What caught my attention was that his proposal would not raise taxes on people who make $250,000/year or less. Then he said that the OTHER 5% would be facing additional income taxes to even things out. What? ONLY 5% of our population makes $250,000/yr for income? I thought the majority of Irvine was at or near that in stated income ;-)

Okay, there seems to be a boatload of houses in the over a million dollar range around our fair city. And if IR is correct on how much income is necessary to purchase a home in that range, it can be $250,ooo/yr. So just what is the percentage of these "5%'ers" who are living among us who are pulling down this notable income?

If it's not at least 30% of us, then I think we are still over priced. ;-)

Disclaimer: I am a regestered dem who has never missed an election and votes straight party ticket (so far), so when I take the following potshot, consider the source.

This election has quite the information gap running from both sides. From the conservative claims "Obama's gonna rip our troops out (when the truth is we're out of troops to deploy and they are coming home no matter who gets elected) to the claims by the dems that "A vote for McCain is the same as a vote for Bush's third term (Duh! Absolutely not! Did you follow the savage republican primary at all in 2000?) it's all part of the same game.

However, when Obama gets his facts wrong again (!) on something simple like this, it does nothing but reinforce my opinion that he's not qualified to run a Dairy Queen, much less the country. Idology aside, I just got done with 2 terms from a guy who I have the utmost respect for (President Bush) but lets be real -

If I owned a Dairy Queen I wouldn't let him run it either. McCain? He's qualified.

For the first time in my voting life, I'm a swing voter, and Obama is losing me a little more every day. Substance not retoric. Getting your facts straight over inspiring speeches. Color me Catholic and unimpressed so far.

This means there are exactly 7500 homes in Irvine that should be worth $600,000 (or more, depending on home much more they make than $200,000).

At least, to me, those 7500 are the ones that can BUY A HOME RIGHT NOW AND QUALIFY FOR A LOAN IN THAT NEIGHBORHOOD.

I see that we are doing better than the mean/median incomes. Yet we fall well short of the million $$$$$$$ casas here in Irvine.

Respect does not equal love. I understand and respect Bush. I guarentee I have the largest library of contemporary conservative books of anyone you know from either party. I go out of the way to extend him this courtesy that comes with the POTUS office(something the Republicans never did for Bill), thus, I refuse to not extend the respect he deserves. IMO it's downright unAmerican.

While I am extremely conservative on certain issues (fiscal ones, mostly), I vehimently disagree with him on virtually every fundamental issue on the role of government, what it should do, and who should pay for it.

FWIW I didn't love Bill either.

Keep in mind that California, OC, and Irvine percentages would all be higher than 2%.
