5% back with discover card making this deal $950 shipped.  Tigerdirect isn't the most reputable but at this price, willing to take a chance.  This is Sony's '11 model but the '12 model is $1000 bucks more and from what I read, not that much different (except for thinner bezel, but i'm looking at the TV not the edge).  Wife gave the green light a few months ago (hopefully she remembers), lowest price on Amazon price history was $1200.  Was also looking at the Sammy D7000, also great picture but don't like the silver look.

Can't wait to catch a few NBA games in HD finally...

Haven't seen big screen OLED's yet, is there a big difference in pic quality?  I believe I saw a small portable OLED at the Sony store a few years back.. didn't make that much of an impression on me..

Streaming HD Netflix on my new TV.....in 2012, feel like a dinosaur, but a happy dinosaur.  Wife finally can tell difference between HD and SD.

I went to CES this year and saw the LG 55" OLED.  OMG, my jaw dropped.  I could not believe the image quality and color saturation.  I am not a big 3D home TV guy (I just bought a 60" and specifically did not want 3D), but the 3D on the LG blew away anything I ever saw in a home application and I WANT that TV!

How does OLED compare to the old Pioneer Kuro Elite?

With Sammy and Sony uniting on price "fixing"... LG and Sharp are going to see more sales.

The new LG sets are nice... edge-to-edge glass so it looks like there is no bevel.

I would have liked to see them side by side to compare in the same environment but I felt the colors were more saturated and truer on the LG.  The black levels were really great.  Of course the LG was probably hand selected and calibrated to perfection though.
