My wife already has a pink diamond for that.... This is all for show, its not that expensive. The stones are all real and the gold is real, but its just not crazy expensive. I purchase stones from time to time and then make projects out of them once I get around to them.

Who says I haven't... I am especially proud of her Craftsman 300pc toolset. She does these little arts and crafts projects for gifts (like little wooden "crates and baskets") to her girlfriends.

I also sell some of these little jewerly projects from time to time. I have ALOT of moonstones and Demantoid Garnets. The moonstone jewerly isn't super flashy, but it is fun and relatively low cost. The Demantoid garnets are NOT cheap now and I do little earrings, though they are a niche item and people who usually purchase them know what they are.

Just wait till you see the Ruby set... its gonna fun!

Or, you can be like mine and purchase your wife a bottle of "urine-b-gone" and a blacklight . This is no joke.

Do you also do hair and interior design? I see you have other hidden potentials. Nice jewelry!!</blockquote>

My hair style consists of "#2 all the way around" This is my vain attempt to hind my quickly graying hair!

My interior design consists of setting up zones in which I funnel intruders into kill zones while maximizing my conceilment and cover position. :bug:

I also make a awsome biscuit (the old fashion way... with LARD!)

Not really, it was a college nick name... i won't go into the explination. But my grandfather was a chuck wagon cook (he is 42 years older than my mom and my mom is 28 years older than me....). So he is quite a bit older than all of us (and has since passed). But he would teach all the males in the family to cook the old fashion way.... It was an uphill battle with me because I am cooking challenged.

Anyway, about the only thing I learned to do right was baking.

Good luck

So tell us how you go about this, bix. Do you sketch up a design and have your jeweler do a wax-up, then run it by you before casting?

[quote author="SoCal78" date=1238049042]Wow, bix. So your dad was 70 when you were born.</blockquote>

No, my GRANDFATHER was 70 when I was born. He taught us all how to cook.

I have done both a sketch/solid model (I am a engineer ya know...) and a ordered unit (it comes in pieces for the specific setup). My wife's ring is a wax model/cast unit. This ring is a modified pre order model. I didn't want something too expensive if it gets damaged.

[quote author="Cubic Zirconia" date=1238051267]Bix, just one question :Are you for real? :)

*Your wife is a lucky woman*

cubic</blockquote>

Why would I not be for real? I love to make things (missles, guns, aerospace parts, cars, car parts, jewerly... its all the same). I love shiny stuff though....

In fact my wife DARED me to wear this ring for a day.... So I put it on and wore it ALL day! :wow: Its funny, i never knew women noticed jewerly.

I don't think she's lucky... I think I'M lucky, I'm just a little bit eccentric. Anyways good luck to YOU!

My dad was 65 when I was born and he was born when my grand father was 60. My grandfather was recruited by the white guys during the 1850s when they went to Canton to seek out tiny China men to dig tunnels in the gold mine here in Northern Ca.

All of his friends from China did not survive the collapse of the mine tunnel. He then made a career change because he was scared and way underpaid for his dangerous job.

He found ways to make much more money. He took care the miners laundry and operated a food stand by cooking awful food like Chop Suey and Egg Fu Young. He returned to China as a very wealthy man but he lied about how he made all his fortune. He told relatives that he dug up gold bars in the Golden Mountain ( America in Chinese language).

My family lost all the fortune during the Japanese invasion of China and the Civil war between Mao and Shiek. Currency was deflated to zero.

This is the reason why immigrants believe in the value of gold.

A wonderful story! No my dad was 31 when I was born, my maternal grandfather was MUCH older than I was. I wish I would have listened to the lessons he had to offer more.
