Is TIC working to destroy Irvine's village feel?

It has been happening all over Irvine where long term leases are not being renewed and the current businesses are only able to rent month to month. It appears The Irvine Company is working towards inviting higher end businesses into the vacancies, which means higher prices.

The result could be creating a new Irvine that is unaffordable to Irvine's original residents.

Should the city take a stand to continue its work in making a large city feel small? Have the successful master planned days been lost in exchange for the endless search of enormous profits by a greedy corporation?

What do you think?

So it's wrong to make money?

Wait...are we talking about business leases because I don't know what has to do with affordability and residents.

Also, TIC has been here for 50 years and they built up Irvine to the city that it now.  Marketplace, Spectrum, South Coast, and just about every neighborhood center in Irvine are TIC.  If you are concerned about that issue, ship sailed about 20 years ago.

Not all businesses that pay high rent have to charge high prices. Think Pieology at the Spectrum. Their prices are really low but they make it up in volume.
