Is Talega near bottom?

It's five miles inland. It's as warm there as Foothill Ranch, which is about the same as LR, slightly better than Temecula, and worse than AV.

I actually just did this test this last week (Wednesday June 22nd). At about 1PM, I measured the temperature in Irvine at the 405 & Sand Canyon, and it was 91 degrees.

Within 30 minutes, I measured it in San Juan Capistrano at Ortega & the 5, and it was 81 degrees, and San Clemente at Vista Hermosa & the 5 it was 80 degrees. Heading up to Talega at the top of La Pata, it was 83 degrees.

My guess would be FR and LR would be considerably hotter than San Clemente, at least comparable to the middle of Irvine.

I actually measured it down in Oceanside/Carlsbad about 30 minutes after that where it was only 78 degrees at Palomar Airport and the 5, but considerably more humid.</blockquote>
You should re-do this going the opposite direction. Start at Oceanside/Carlsbad at 1pm and go north and take your measurements.

[quote author="TR_Esq" date=1248741994] Also have friends who live in LR who, at the last BBQ we attended in Talega were struck by "how much cooler Talega is than Ladera". this makes sense too considering LR is essentially Mission Viejo.</blockquote>

I have been there exactly once to do a reposession (don't ask). I drove the 241 from Foothill Ranch down to Ortega back to the 5 south to Avenida Vista Hermosa. The one time I went there it was 95 in FR and 94 in Talega and like the low 80's on the beach. It could of been a fluke.

If my tech was bad, it's because my expierence in the neighborhood is thin, and I apologize.

Yahoo weather says right now is:

Villa Park/Orange 84 (my thermometer says 87 in the shade)

San Clemente 81

Aliso Viejo 80

RSM 80

Temecula 93

I don't know if I believe it, but thats what it says.

Since it is a relatively established local wine-making area, I would imagine (for whatever geographical/air current reasons) that Temecula is hotter during the day but comparably cooler at night. It will have a wider daily range of temperatures like Paso Robles, Napa, Santa Lucia Highlands, Santa Barbara, etc.

These losses are staggering...

In dollar terms, those discounts are big, but in percentage terms, they are only 30% off or so. Low end areas like the IE have 60-70% off all over the place.
