Is Radon Testing Necessary?

In your guys' opinion, is radon testing a must have before you buy a condo?  I figured if anyone in the condo complex found radon, the association should have been notified?
 
If I'm not mistaken Radon is found when a property is built over a decomposing granite strata. We don't really have much of that in the OC.

If you take a geiger counter to most granite countertops it will show a fractional rise in background radiation.
