Irvine Toxic Plume

The El Toro toxic plume working it's way across central Irvine has been discussed in a few (slightly too specific) threads, so I'll start a general thread and we can consolidate links here.

It looks like it was actually in water that was used on the base, which appears to not be the case currently in Irvine.

IRWD has a web site and map of the plume. The cleanup project is called the "Irvine Desalter Project".

The only danger to the community is if it gets to a drinking well AFAIC. They have already switched the wells in the plumes path to filtering and irrigation only. The plume is 300 to 1000 feet below the surface.
