I received an iPhone 17e from work.
I like it, it’s smaller with 6.1” screen at 6oz. Super handy and “big enough” screen, significantly cheaper than iPhone Air.
Like iPhone Air, it has a single 48mp camera that can be set to 48mp or downscaled to 24mp at 1x.
If you use the 2x “optical zoom” mode, it actually just crops the image at 12mp resolution.
At 1x 48mp a photo might be 12mb in size.
At 1x 24mp the same photo is 3mb.
At 2x 12mp the photo is 1mb.
So if you want to save space, disable Live Photo, and shoot at 2x mode. You’ll get about 800-1000 photos per GB.
Note iPhone Air’s camera has superior optical image stabilization, you’ll get better low light image quality and motion captures - but it will cost you $400+ more.
