I'm not even a Victorian house nut but...

New Hampshire is a fairly small part of New England, especially if you include some or all of New York and New Jersey in your definition. Vermonters despise their property tax structure, while Mass has overall taxes which are significantly worse than CA, which is hard to do. Include some of the worst counties in NY (especially the property taxes out in the Hamptons) and it only gets worse.

What part of CT are you from, Troop? My in-laws are in Terryville (west of Bristol.)

Nice town, Troop.

I have always spent Thanksgiving in my home town, Plymouth, Massachusetts (home of the very first Thanksgiving).

It doesn't feel right spending Thanksgiving in California.

Sorry, feeling homesick today.

I've always loved the way "This Old House" would step in and work with these old East Coast homes. I'm a sucker for those old houses.... Thankfully i've never succumbed to getting one and living the money pit hell...

anyways good luck
