Ideal Home Brokers?

I don't read the main blog enough so I don't know if there has been an official announcement (I've seen references on the birthday post and other ones), but I've noticed the changes.

Most of the information stuff like the new calculator (alas... the IHO calculator has been retired *sniff*) is located at www.idealhomebrokers.com and the discussion stuff like the blog and forums are at www.irvinehousingblog.com.

There is some license info and a new layout but what else?

Is IR, Zovall or Shevy (gasp) going to give us some type of post detailing what the other IHB is going to do? IR mentioned September and it's now October... so whassup?

Was this post too controversial? Or not controversial enough? Or does no one care what the new IHB does?

I miss NewSkip.

EDIT: Never mind... I guess this was the droid I was looking for:

http://www.irvinehousingblog.com/blog/comments/we-are-the-ihb/

What I find interesting:

1. No one commented on your thread

2. Comments where not allowed on the blog for this article

Given the 2nd item above I would have expected comments in the forum but there weren't any at all. Maybe no one does care what IHB does?

I don't know if the mods have access to this info but it seems like forum activity hasn't been very high as of late.

A few regulars are gone and there doesn't seem to be much heated discussion other than whether shadow inventory exists or not.

Maybe it's unemployment... most people post while at work... and if there's no work... no posts... heh.

I don't mind that there is an "other" IHB. It's just there ...and doesn't affect me...

Wait that's not true. Trooper left because of this and now we don't get her law enforcement influenced posts. So it did affect me.

Other than that don't really have an opinion for or against it.

People are busy with more urgent activities this time of year. Like fantasy football.

The IHB thingy happened back in March. Old news.

And there was a reaction then. But now. Same old dog and pony show.

Football is far more important.

And Sales will always be about people and relationships.

A website is nothing more than an interactive glorified business card. No matter how much info you overload it with.

And the Real Estate market is like any other High Profile Sales business. You have a few big sharks making coin.

And a bunch of little fish getting eaten alive.

First off... my apologies for abusing the equestrian but I do think what IHB was in March has been refined/changed to what it is now.

I read yesterday's blog comments on the issues with the IHB property listing software and I just wanted to add some comments here because somehow my comments over there wouldn't post and got lost (the listing software can be found on the IHB homepage at http://www.idealhomebrokers.com):

1. One of the biggest reasons I use RedFin is because of the Sales History. IHB has the listing history (which is also useful), but historically I do like to see what the properties have previously sold for.

2. I don't like how the pictures default to auto-slideshow. There should be an option to put it into slideshow mode because I prefer to manually click on the pictures I am interested in.

3. The user interface is a bit quirky, for some reason, my entries wouldn't stick in the first main field and my search kept coming up with all the properties in the area. There should be an option to enter an address into the search field to find a specific property.

I think it's pretty good and I will probably find myself using it more as it does include the ability to look for sales AND leases on the same page, but it doesn't have an option to search for a 3-car garage (the horror!).

For houses which are sold I would like to see the original listing. IPO used to provide this useful information but unfortunately he is no longer able to (maybe he could sell it?) and I haven't found any website that does.

I think IPO copied the original RedFin page before or when it went into escrow and then housed it on his hosting server.

Not sure if the IHB can do that with their software but it would be nice, there have been many times where I wanted to look at an old listing trying to find tract information.
