Next Monday I start a new job, with an old boss.

Someone I helped start his company in the 90's. The company is still profitable and is still viable and I know without question I was a major part of making that happen. That being said, its been nearly a year since I have had a job offer I am proud of. For this new one, I am proud for several reasons.

Its been almost 10 years to the day (give or take a week) that I was hired to Netzero. It is without a question the best job I have ever had. Because even though our hopes were regularly shredded, our faith in one another never wavered. The people I did that job with, I am forever bonded to and grateful for, the same way that I was bonded to someone from camp you shared a major accomplishment with. We did so many things, back then, that were nothing short of miraculous. A few of us started that company from this guys garage to IPO, in a little over 9 months.

This was my second IPO, I had also helped make Earthlink happen, but this company, it was personal and I was deeply, personally invested in it.

To this day I have followed his career, and though hes has many opportunities to list the incredible things hes done, he has never ever wavered from his original ideals. He never intended to exploit anyone nor to take advantage of anyone in his employ. For that he has my unending respect, because there have been so many times he could have used it to benefit him self or the company. But he chose to do what was best for the person.

This person.. he never went to college. He married his childhood sweetheart, just out of High School, and try as anyone might, its impossible to find him in the gossip type reads. Hes like anyones 48 year old uncle or father. Hes just a normal guy devoted to his family uninterested in his ego and always surprised at the brilliance and humor of his kids. Hes someone Id work for again in a minute.

I am so happy, so excited to be part of his new venture. I cant even begin to explain to IHB how much it means to me, that he wants me as part of his new team.

Big congrats, I am hearing from various people that the economy is really beginning to pick up and it's nice to hear that the good people out there are getting picked up. I'm a big believer of good KARMA and I think that you created it to where this was just a matter of time happening. There's nothing better than having a job that you like/love and enjoy who you work with. Just remember us little people when you make it big. ;)

Wait WHAT?? BK doesnt pay for my er... hermes problem. Thats between me and my credit card. WHO has been telling stories out of school?!! :p

he mentioned it in a thread about theft at irvine shopping ctrs.

so now it's hermes? and if you're anything like my wife, each expensive bag purchase is accompanied with a statement about how "versatile and classic this bag is! i can carry this for at least 10 yrs!" that was maybe 1 bag per yr, many yrs ago....

back to topic... congrats!

To be fair... I always tell my wife every year that this year will be the year that I'm going to lose weight.

Congrats on the new job GK... it's always great to work for someone you believe in (instead of a pointy haired boss).

Congratulations Grace! Feeling good about where you work, what you do and who you work with adds so much to personal and professional fulfillment. So happy for you! Good luck with the transition back.

Congratulations, Grace! Working for people you respect, and who respect the people that work for them, seems to be such a rarity these days. May this job be everything you want it to be.

She can do what we did before we have kids. Basically we cook one dish on the weekend, a big bunch, then eat the same dish for the entire week. Make sure you don't contaiminate the food, otherwise they tends to get sour and a bit spoiled by Saturday morning.

Alternative is to ask bk's mom to live with you, and ask her to cook and clean like all of the Asian mothers. She is, what, only in her mid-80?
