I'd be highly surprised if anyone from TI hunts but thought I would ask anyway.

This time of year makes me sentimental. I remember growing up, my dad and uncle would go deer hunting together every year around this time. Packing for the trip, there was a lot of anticipation. As a kid, I would stay up the night before baking the only thing I knew how to make for them to take along. They would disappear for a week or so. When they returned there would be a lot of venison at our house, cleaned up and ready for cooking along with photos and stories. I don't know anybody around here who would know what I'm talking about, particularly people of Irvine, but I miss those days. Anywhos.

Does anyone here hunt at all?

Does fishing count as hunting? My parents/relatives are big time fishers... surf fishing, pier fishing, lake fishing... you name it.

Maybe that's why I'm not that fond of seafood. :)

im a huge animal lover and couldnt hunt for the sake of the sport. if i was going to eat it, perhaps, but otherwise wouldnt do it.

My uncle had probably a half dozen deer heads and antlers mounted throughout his home in LA (the other one), at which I spent part of every summer while growing up.  He taught me to shoot everything from 22LRs to 12gas to 44mags.  He took me rabbit hunting once, where I found out I would probably do much better at patiently "hunting" deer, than trying to nail a terrified rabbit darting through the brush with a hound in hot pursuit.  I simply could not be sure I wouldn't hit the dogs.  I did learn to skin them and ended up, to my mother's utter dismay, with a mess of lucky rabbit's feet.  I mean, my cousin and I had probably 60 of them, and they froze solid during the ride home in the pickup, only to be forgotten and later discovered after they had completely thawed out somewhere inside the house.  I also learned, though never accepted, that spitting out buckshot at the dinner table was just part of the experience.  I do enjoy skeet shooting, though I always go with friends and don't own a shotgun of my own.
