Hey guys.  I was wondering, did anyone else have any issues getting home owner's insurance near Portola Parkway (Portola Springs, Pavilion Park, Stonegate)?  My insurance is saying they won't cover me due to being too near the brush.  What companies have you guys used?

No issues here, I have State Farm.

Are you right up against the hillside in PS?  Otherwise I don't think you have much risk from being near the brush.

Tell them there's a fire department in PS just a mile or 2 away, maybe you'll get a discount.

I had an issue when I tried to get insurance back in 1998 for Northwood Pointe (there had been a fire in 1997 in OH and Northwood Pointe was evacuated).

I had an issue when I bought my current home (in TUSTIN LEGACY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) which is nowhere even close to a fire area (we do share the same zip as Tustin Ranch even though there is another zip in between the two areas).

In both cases it limited our insurance choices but didn't prevent us from finding adequate competitive insurance.

Living near Portola Parkway, State Farm has no problem accepting money for insurance on my house.

In OH, not in the high risk area but adjacent. No issues getting insurance.  We had a quote from Chubb but went with Amica. In an actuarial and statistical sense, I think the insurance companies make out like bandits the vast majority of the time even in high-risk areas. One or 2 bad events can skew the numbers.  I think what affects insurability more are prior claims history.
