For new homes.. they have that openHouse box or whatever you call it inside your master bedroom closet.  Can you just plug your router in here?  There are RJ45 connections through the house.  Hope this makes sense.

incognito said:Depending on the wiring, you might need to redo the pinning on the ends to match either a 568-A and 568-B, which is super simple. Also the CAT5 end in the network box in the closet is usually hooked up directly to a telephone panel. So you'll likely have to pull them out and put them on an RJ45 connector so that you can plug it into the router/switch.
