I am looking to upgrade my home alarm (current one is non functioning and about 15 years old) I called some of the well known alarm companies and they wanted rather expensive installation fees and a lomg term contract for monitoring services (which is rather pointless for my needs). I am looking for a company to update the system and not have the monitoring setup.

Any suggestions on local companies who can install a new system without the monitoring?
 
Depending on how handy you are, you could just use the existing wiring and install a new one yourself. There is probably a forum for the alarm system that you have.

Otherwise you can always go cheap and install those window alarms, they are so loud! I just installed some of those for a soul sister.
 
Bump, I'm now looking for an alarm system. I can look online, but was wondering if anyone might have good suggestions for installation and monitoring?
 
Are you looking for a monitored system or just an alarm system?

Wireless systems are pretty cheap nowadays and they even have deluxe models with cameras, automation of lighting and being able to monitor via the Internet.
