Holiday stuff...

So now that the various type of holiday things are happening (for whatever religion you do or don't celebrate), these kind of things make me wonder what everyone else does:

Where do you hide your gifts?

The garage is my go-to place. Yet another reason why a 3CWG is useful. Both the kids and the spouse don't even attempt to go through the junk there... I can even put it in plain sight and they won't notice.

While Elephant Gift Exchange

I actually like this over Secret Santa. You don't have to worry about buying something someone in particular will like and it's fun if you do the stealing variation.

We have a regular one with our family and it's kind of tough because it mixes the age gaps a bit (no kids though). One year, Snuggies were a hit and kept getting stolen, another year it was a food-warmer, tools are popular (among the older men) and Crock Pots... not so much (because everyone has one already?).

What was a great (or lame) White Elephant gift you got?

Feel free to add more to this Holiday thread since it's only a few days away for some or in full swing for others.

Happy Hanukwanzmas... Merry Chriskwanzukkah!

Your wife will definitely see your good gesture hidden in the 3CWG :-*

Forget writing a letter to Santa, this is the Internet age:

www.emailSanta.com

I tried it this year and it was actually pretty cool. The child can enter in basic info like age, boy/girl, 3 things they want and any additional comments.

They added a feature where you see the email go to Santa and he has a video that talks to the child... he even addresses how old you are and knows if you are a boy/girl (based on the information you provided). Then it shows Santa sending you an email back and you have a letter that is somewhat personalized with their name, age and he talks about the things you requested (it has someone smart technology as it recognizes the things the child requested and mentions it, like Santa getting Legos stuck in his beard or that Rudolph likes to play Nintendo).

I did each child privately, thinking that the video and letter might actually be the same, but it turns out the video was different for each one... as was the return letter.

I thought about doing one on my own to see how he addresses a gift request like an Android tablet... heh.

Anyways... it did help in that I know the stuff we did get for them is what they wanted and gave me some ideas for some last minute stocking stuffers for them.

It may not work out as well for you and your kids... but just blame Homer. :D

That's actually a pretty cool site, if I had a kid I would definitely use it!
