HOA + swim = drama in quail hill

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
yeah the swim team should not have the right to tell people to leave the pool because they need to practice and using buzzers and crap should definitely not be allowed.  i know people can reserve club houses, etc for parties but im not aware of HOAs renting out pools. At least here i cant reserve the swimming pool for a private party.

Wasn't there some thread about this awhile back that no one really understood?  Saw this in OCR today. Maybe this is the root of the conflict. Quick IHO - contact one of the unhappy homeowners. Maybe they'll sell one to you for cheap just to GTFO!

Yikes!  Brings back memories of the mess I moved out of.  Homeowner suing board and vice versa never ends well and everyone suffers because HOA fees always increases afterwards.

I think one issue I have is the HOA helped fund the start-up of the swim team. That should have been a loan reimbursed by the team fees.

I do feel that these community type groups does help foster socialization among the neighbors as the article points out. Do other HOA/villages have this kind of problem?

While 3 home meets seems like a high amount, based on the schedule, it seems every team in Irvine has about 2-3 per season:

Northpark only has 2 so maybe that's a solution and they should reduce QH's schedule down to 2 instead of 3.

Some people are just too uptight... I wouldn't mind 2 or 3 meets in our nearby pool as long as they keep the noise down (which seems to be an issue) and clean up after themselves (another complaint). The increased traffic and lack of parking is probably a bigger nuisance as most of the QH pools don't have lots of parking available.

As for pool reservations, it does happen. I've seen many a pool in Irvine closed for an HOA event.

I should start an Irvine Basketball League, a kids division and an old fogies division.

I've seen hoas reserve pools for like movie night and things like that but can a resident reserve a pool for a private pool party?

From what I've read, the Irvine Swim League is run in cooperation with the City and the HOAs, so it's not a resident reserving the pool, but actually the HOA/City just like any other community event.

I know in Woodbridge you can but it costs a lot and a notice is posted a week in advance to notify potential pool users for the private party.

I don't know if they have problems but I know they have swim teams at Woodbridge and Westpark that use one of the respective community pools not only for meets but practices as well.  I don't know if they kick people out of the pool during practices.  Fortunately, they're not at the pool I swim at.  :P
