[quote author="tmare" date=1226621023]I thought you were the one who wanted to stop having so many Prop 8 threads?</blockquote>

I am. But if I can't stop others from posting them, and if the cultural norm of IHB about reusing threads don't apply to deviant lifestyles, I may as well provide a little balance.

I'll have more threads later.

Winex, I'm not a mod and I can't ban you, but I would kindly request that you stop using the phrase "deviant lifestyles." To me, that is nearly as offensive as using the "N word" and is way beyond the rope and tree comment of BLT's that you are constantly whining about. Knock it off. I think it is possible for you to disagree without being disagreeable, but you're really testing that theory.

You liberals always feel a need to control the lives of others. Looking at the definition of the word "deviant", I don't see how you could say it doesn't apply:

"Deviant lifestyles" If there was any doubt about this guy being a troll ?

"Trolls don't have friends. On the internet, because they interact with human beings, they can convince themselves that they are important, the centre of the universe - that, to them, is better than any friendship. Don't foget, the troll thinks he is always right, and therefore better than other folk. In real life, exactly the opposite applies. the troll has no friends and virtually no interaction with other people".

Society needs to compromise.

The No on 8 People will stay out of the churches.

The People in the Churches keep it in the church. No evangelizing outside of the church. No approaching people at the bus stop. No knocking on the door. No chatting up people at lunch. etc. etc. etc.

I actually appreciate Winex's honesty because I know why he has a problem with gay marriage. While I find his beliefs to be completely wrong, at least I know what they are. The biggest problem I have had with those who supported Prop 8 is that many of them said that they support a person's right to be gay and they support Civil Unions but not marriage. There are really only two reasons not to support gay marriage:

#1 You believe they are not born gay, they are making a choice that is both morally wrong and in some way should be illegal (ie. Winex's "deviant lifestyles").

#2 You believe that you are better than a gay person because you are straight, and therefore should be allowed more rights than the gay person.

Not many people who supported are telling the truth about their beliefs, they are simply trying to make their intolerance tolerable. Let's just call it what it is.

I find it interesting that ALOT of churches/"No on Prop 8" have come into the public/pirvate sectors to protest.

But as soon as it is turned around on them... OMG its "how can you do that at OUR CHURCH - OUR place of Worship".

So I guess their intolerance extends past people's personal choice.

Rhetorical question:

What is "normal"?

Wow, I cannot believe you went there. The conservatives are the ones who deny a woman's a right to choose, believes that a person does not have the right to choose when they die, refutes a person's right to choose who he/she can or cannot marry, that flag burning should be banned via constitutional amendment, and that the country should only follow their version of Chrisitanity. Yes, the last election shows how open and welcoming the conservatives are and have been for the last 20 years.

winex is just another one of those religious nut jobs..... who will be on the wrong side of history.

Pay him no attention.

So Trooper, can I assume that you believe that anyone who believes in God or in protecting innocent lives is a religious nut job?

So, I pray to unicorns and leprechauns who tell me I should believe in invading foreign countries to kill huge numbers of people. I wonder if anyone would call me a religious nut-job?

I don't believe that there is any religion centered around unicorns and leprechauns. Therefore, you appear to be an ordinary nut-job, not a religious one. Of course that was apparent a long time ago when you voiced support for John Edwards...
