Goodbye KFWB

Monday evening, I happened to be driving home when two of the KFWB news anchors were giving their farewells to the audience because they lost their jobs. The station will now have a "talk radio" rather than "news radio" format. The station is going to "celebrate" the conversion by having 18 straight hours of "Dr. Laura" today.

Sad. Really Sad. And no longer on my station list.

I completely detest Dr. Laura.... I also used to listen to that station... i sent them a polite letter stating I will no longer be listening to it...

How sad. I grew up hearing KFWB in my mother's car every morning and evening. "You give us 22 minutes, we'll give you the WORLD!" I used to repeat that over and over again as a young kid.

This explains why the channel was riddled with Dr. Laura announcements this morning while I was driving to work. They've been making announcements about Dr. Laura coming to KFWB, but I didn't realize that the news folks would be losing their jobs. Looks like I'll no longer be switching back and forth between 980 and 1070 on my way to and from work.

They've had the same parent for fifteen years or so.

IMO the parent org. is trying to realign the programing so that 980 and 1070 stop cannabalizing each others' audience and 980 can go head to head with KFI (which they don't own).
