If you hurry, you can catch the last 20 minutes of "Buy Real Estate at a Bargain" on channel 11. The program description on Cox Digital guide says "Buy land, they are not making it anymore"!!!!

LOL!!!!!

LL --- Can't deal with the schools in that part of Tustin. Right now I am mostly trying to target the neighborhood I want to buy in longer term, and make that decision and move there by mid-08 as my daughter starts school next fall. Not sure if I will buy a home by then, but I at least want to rent in the area I plan to buy in. I live in Westpark now, and want to get out of here. My two favoriite areas are either Turtle Rock/Turtle Ridge or Northpark/Northpark Square....But both have drawbacks: TR because I can't now and don't know if I will ever be able to afford anything resembling a SFR there for the foreseeable future. Northpark because I am not sure yet how I feel about the Tustin USD. The schools that serve Irvine seem pretty top notch, but I just worry on how they will fare down in the years to come.

Do you work in Irvine, or have to stay in/near that area for other reasons? If you go down south a little...aren't schools down in Aliso Viejo/Laguna Niguel pretty good?

Work on Bristol/Anton in CM --- but also have to go downtown LA with some frequency, so don't want to get too far away. We are really hung up on Irvine as for the most part our whole lives are centered here. With the diversity of housing options in Irvine, if we can't find something to suit us, we are not looking hard enough. We just want something detached (SFR great, but fine with detached condo)....And probably 1,600 - 2,200 sq feet is all we need, as there are only 3 of us. If Honda built homes, that would be the one I would buy....If you remember the conversation from last night.

Huntington Beach/Fountain Valley would be a nice middle ground. Just a quick shoot down the 405 to work (against traffic) and about 35 miles to downtown LA. How's the Huntington Beach unified school district? Sorry, I'm single with no children so kinda clueless to the schools.

CK,

My children attend TUSD and I am very happy with it for it's social and academic balance. IUSD's kids are more academic, not because of school, but of the parents.

Regardless, if you check the scores you will find both are comparables, for certain schools within the districts.
