gifts to teachers

I heard a disturbing story this weekend.  I was told that many parents are giving monetary gifts to Northwood high school teachers.  Supposedly there is a limit on the monetary value of the gift, so apparently some parents are bypassing that rule by giving frequent gifts...  I think this should be outlawed in order to mitigate favoritism towards certain students.  Any thoughts?

They would get cash.  Asians like cash.  Just look at their weddings.

I was actually instructed to bring cash NOT a gift when I got invited to a wedding (nationality withheld on purpose)!!!
