Anyone have good recommendation for a place that can repair my fake fireplace? Would really like to have it on since it's getting cold out.

What is the issue? ignition, gas feed, or???

Thanks USC. Yep I did call and unfortunately they don't cover it, they will cover the gas valve and stem but that's the only parts in there they will cover.

Handy man came over this week but recommended going with a specialist for it.

The ignition for sure. It was flaky when I moved in, now it won't start at all.

On a scale of 1-10, how "handy" would you consider yourself? If it is just the ignition you should be able to unstack the front and disassemble the appliance yourself.

The ignition unit will likely be carried by

If you'd rather hire someone to come out to do it, Aaron or Josh with Sol Construction should be able to handle it.

I am not bad with handy stuff but I usually break stuff the first time I try it. The second attempt is always perfect though LOL. If I have instructions I will do it perfectly but when it comes to creativity I fall short. My parents always asked me to fix stuff growing up because I could always figure it out but I think my problem at my age now is just motivation and putting time into it. Some guys love building stuff but I just find it unmotivating. It's kinda like math, I'm really good at it but don't enjoy it.

So I will give myself an underachieving 5 with the ability to be an 8 HAHAHAHA

The starter looks like you just need to disconnect the power, put the new unit in and then just screw it back in, so I could just pick up a replacement with the same specs and pop it in. The label on the starter is really verbose with the specs so looks like you could just take it to that store and then match it up according to the specs.

Thanks IrvineRealtor that is super helpful will let you know how it goes.

Ah well I emailed this other fireplace repair place a month ago before I got your reference IrvineRealtor, and they seemed helpful at first and asked for pictures, but when I sent and followed up a few times I never heard back. Maybe the person I was talking to left or is on vacation or maybe my job is too small for them. Well anyway since they never responded on to your reference.

Been working like a dog the past month so haven't had much time to take care of anything.

I just emailed Sol Contruction so will see if they can help me out.

Good luck, Icey.
It's definitely feeling like the time of year to want that fireplace to work!
