Okay... so I finally watched all 4 seasons (thanks to HBOGO).

I tried to watch it last year but was utterly bored... the only reason I was able to watch it this time around was because the Mrs. wanted to see it. She keeps seeing all these GoT references and wanted to be "in the know".

I understand the obsession but it's more of a soap opera than a fantasy action show.

Season 3 had the most surprises for me. I'm glad I didn't read any spoilers or know what The Red Wedding was about or that would have ruined the episode for me.

Are the books any good?

I bought the set but never got around reading it. We start watching this week.. I don't like waiting for the DVD from Netflix, but then they aren't streaming it.. waited too long!

If you have HBO (via cable or satellite), you can use the HBOGO app to watch all 4 seasons.

Our HBO On Demand only has Season 4.

Watched all four seasons over the past month, and I love it! One of my top 5 favorite television shows of all time. And I generally don't even care for the fantasy genre.

I had tried watching the first episode when it first premiered, but couldn't get into it. Knowing a bit about the premise beforehand this second time through was a tremendous help!

It's odd how HBO On Demand offers different things to different people, depending on your TV source (cable, DirecTV). On DirecTV, I have access to all four seasons, yet a friend of mine who has cable (don't know which provider) doesn't have access to any (or maybe just most recent season). That sucks. That said, when I first started watching, the very first episode wasn't available On Demand, so I watched the first episode on HBOGO. But now the first episode is available On Demand. No idea how this is determined.

I guess it doesn't matter.. just HBO GO for it.

You guys should watch Tyrant on FX it's pretty good

Entire seasons of shows recorded on my DVR but remain unwatched:

Tyrant (what's aired so far)
Strain (1st episode)
Turn
Orphan Black (entire 1st and 2nd seasons)
Crisis (just started with 1st episode last night, good enough to continue)
24
Fargo
Broadchurch

I gave The Last Ship a chance, didn't like it. I still have all aired episodes on my DVR because the SO wants to continue without me.

Strain was interesting.

Although implausible, I like The Last Ship.

Finished the last episode of 24 last night... it was only okay compared to previous seasons.

The Mrs. is looking for a Game of Thrones substitute.

Although nothing like GoT in terms of violence, sex, nudity, and scale of storytelling, Downton Abbey is equally compelling. Similar to GoT, I get completely engrossed in the story with Downton.

i have last season

I didn't read any of the GoT books until I finished Season 4.  I just had to know what happens next, especially after the entire Red Viper ordeal.

So I read Book #5, A Dance with Dragons.  I would have read book 4 but many people said don't bother.  I blew through the 1000+ pages of Book #5 in a week while being forced to read another book for a book report that was due the same week.  I finished the GoT book before my book report.  haha

Parts of Book #5 was filmed in Season 4 but the majority is new plot that's coming in Season 5.  So exciting.  If you want to know what will happen next and know the characters more personally, I highly recommend A Dance with Dragons.

I'm so glad you stated this thread IHO, I wanted to for a long time but that would be just too obvious.
