Four tower projects have been canned in Irvine

Who are they marketing this to? Young professionals? Are there that many to build so many projects? Say hello to traffic.
 
reason - They must be marketing to all that smart foreign money that doesn't care if re prices are depreciating.
 
I, for one, hope that one day in the future the IBD dream comes to fruition.

I want to see an environment where you can walk to dinner.

I want to see Irvine turn into a shiny city, a real city.

I know, traffic will increase, but it's going to increase no matter what we want.

I also love what they're planning at South Coast. Walking to the Arts Center, shopping, dining, etc. sounds very exciting. I'm an ex New Yorker, so that appeals to me very much.
 
I gotta admit, I'd love to have a Pasadena-like city environment nearby. I don't think it could happen for a VERY long time. Decades.
 
Like I have mentioned in other postings. It seems like TIC is planning something for which the public is not aware of. It's obvious that the real estate market is stagnated. Yet, along with the IBC area, there are grading of land for 3 to 4 up and coming residential neighborhoods. Granted they are sitting idle at the moment. But is the TIC up to something?

All I can imagine is. It won't be a small city that we once knew.
 
I wonder what Bren even thinks of the IBC, since he has no control over it (other than through the city council)?

Don't hold your breath. I have been waiting for this all my life. You don't walk in OC you drive. Do you know how many times the NIMBY's have killed the light rail?

I don't know why OC has always maintained the suburban feel. Instead of keeping up downtown Santa Ana which used to be what one thinks of a downtown complete with trolleys and most everything in walking distance they just kept moving further away. Sad that it has become what it is. My mom grew up in a house on Broadway and they didn't lock their front door.

Plus I will make my point that the OC Business Council and SCAG makes we need high density housing that is affordable. That is the whole point of building up is for affordability not charging a premium.
