For the IHB Cat Lovers

I know there are a few fellow cat-lovers on the forum. I recently found this site and was totally amazed! After reading the post on the IHB a few days ago about the wretched homeowners who leaver their pets behind when they are foreclosed on, this has restored my faith in humanity. Watch the video on the 'Facility' page. You won't believe it! If you don't like cats, just tune out.

Nice. Here is a smaller, but similar site. Just has to do with cats no one wanted, foreclosure or not.

If any of you fellow cat-lovers are worried about what to do with your cats when you pass away, there is a place near and dear to my heart:

I can personally vouch for this organization. If you have questions, please PM me.

nice thread, I've been to blue belle they are great. how is Irvine Animal Shelter lately? Have you been there? They have a nice kitty room and I believe they are non-kill, I think they had an population problem in the summer...

So how many cats do you all have? I don't have any but I am fond of Persians. (Can not have any because my husband is allergic, unfortunately... and I don't want one of those ugly hairless cats, sorry. hehe)

I miss my cats. Had two cats over the last 34 years. One 20 years and one 14 years. One was a Main Coon the other was a GIANT Tabby (34 lbs).

Oh well, take it easy

Bix,

That's crazy! That is by all accounts the biggest cat I have ever heard of! Do you have pics (man, I sound like Eff!)?

Sorry you no longer have your kitties  but, you know... you were very fortunate to have them so long... I lost my girl kitty at age 8, my boy kitty is now 11 years old.

The 1st cat was called Ke'var or Kevar for short. The Navajos named her that as "Cat of many colors". She was pretty big at 12-13 lbs. Morris was big boy, ironically the runt of the litter. We used to call him blubber butt, but he was a great cat and a very loving pet. I don't know how many pictures we have... he passed in around 1996, i'll search around. His mom was HUGE, around 40ish lbs, Morris looked more regular because he was a big cat, but his mom was a loaf of bread with mcnugget legs .

good luck

We got one of our cats from the Irvine Shelter and I have a friend who just got one there as well. I think it is a great place - they don't rake you under the coals you as much as some other local shelters.

Oh my gosh! My biggest (in my avatar) is 22 pounds and I thought he was gigantic! 34 pounds is HUGE - even for a Maine Coone. I love large cats, though. More to love!

No, the main coon was about smaller, Morris was the giant tabby.

Whoa!

In contemplating our future house, we just LOVE houses with French doors, however, they don't work well with pet doors that fit nicely in the sliding glass; which are very convenient. What are some solutions some of you have been able to come up with?
