I took one for a spin in a super secret location, and it was remarkably well behaved for as large as it is. Not one for the twisties, but I wouldn't mind cruising the streets in it.

Might have to add some line-locks to the front brakes though.

Definitely not for Ortega... It's was meant more for PCH. Throw it in 'D' and cruise... However, the new Camaro has a solid chassis. Same platform at my beloved Pontiac G8 aka Holden Commodore aka Vauxhall.

The Camaro's are going to handle like a BMW if they can get the weight distribution balanced.

Btw, 55 and 57 Belair's reign supreme... Maybe a 68-69 Camaro(e.g. Better Off Dead)

I used to have a 600hp, 90inch wheelbase, 2200 lb streetcar so it is hard to get too excited about these big lead sleds.

If you want a power rush try taking the Sprint Car Driving School in Ventura and go sideways in a 650 hp 1275 pound sprint car in the dirt about 15 feet from the wall.

Way better than K1 Karts.

That is exciting for sure.

Go fast-turn left

K1? Fail.

I know of three places... Don't know if they're good...

1. Mikes? in Tustin

2. There's a place in Lake Forest near Rockfield and past Lake Forest, very close to the Hobby People and The Library Strip club

3. Costa Mesa/Newport Beach border, next to Mach 1 motorcycle repair.

That was the original drifting car... Not this fast and furious bullsh*t.

SW

You are right about that being the original drifting except they do it with 24 cars going up to 120 mph inches apart.

Coming out of a corner and looking out of the window net directly down the straightaway is a rush.

Dirt sprint car racing is racing in its purest form. No radios, no mirrors, no pit stops, just balls out pedal to the metal go fast and turn left.

That is why it has changed very little in 70 years and some of the top drivers in history started there.

Asphalt is for getting there-Dirt is for racing.

Depends on what you are looking for.

In any case, I'd start with a local club and ask them. That's where the best values are and the nicest cars because you can buy it private party. Most of the cars I see sold by brokers aren't that nice and are always overpriced.

I agree with No_Vas. Also try googling for forums for the type of car you want. They usually have a classified section. There are some pretty good deals out there now.

Sales at the big auctions in January in Scottsdale were of about 10% in revenues.

Have you checked out the Pomona swap meets? Also go to the early morning gatherings like Dunkin Donuts in HB and the Saturday meet at the Ford offices off of 405.

Bring a bag of cash as that is how most are purchased.

Yep! That's great fun there.

I brought the Mush-stang there and was playing around with a Diablo, he wasn't too happy that a lowly economy sport car CRUSHED him....

oh well.. good luck

That will Get-R-Done.

He was doing great until "she blowed up".

That's how it usually is. We used to run a engine lab at NMSU and several times we run the engine and see a marked increase in power just before you melted a piston. We found out it was the engine using the metal as a fuel.... just before it killed itself...

oh well... the good ol' days.

Bix

Thats true or they lean out and run up the rpms then go KABAMMMMMMMM.

I blew up a couple of race motors and it was pretty exciting just prior to that quiet sensation.

It always sounds like $$$$$$$$$$.

Keep spanking the exotics with your Pony.

enjoy!

I'm not into Chevys, but I'd like to have this one.

The Mrs. and I went to Pick-A-Part on Sunday and snatched up a small case Motorcraft G3 alternator so my electric fan will work at idle without the voltage dropping below 11 volts, and a set of valve covers off of a '95 F-250 (they have the ratcheting oil fill cap, a PCV knock out, and are baffled) so I can get them to not leak anymore. I call it "Recession Recreation". She chills and plays games on the ipod and watches the tools and makes sure I don't get killed.

Last weekend I whipped out the bandsaw and the beltsander and got midevil on a piece of 1/8 aluminum and built the fan brackets for the radiator.

I spent the whole Daytona 500 on the couch polishing stainless steel fasteners.

It's coming, but it's slow. I completely overdid this project when I went to the rotiseree -the detailing is out of control because everything looks so bad against the new paint..........it would help if the weather would be more cooperative, but we need the rain.
