Flip That House 2008

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
The 2008 season of Flip That House is running on TLC.

Interestingly, before any of the footage shows on the new episodes, a disclaimer runs:

"The following program features real people taking risks with real money. Flip at you own risk."

The message is displayed on screen long enough to easily read in stark white on black background and serious sounding deep male voice voiceover reading it for you.

I believe this is a new feature of the show. :-)

I love that show and have been watching it for years.

They've always had that message.

I stand corrected. I've been watching but don't recall the message. Then again, I can't keep the mulitple versions of that show straight on all the channels.

I love all those shows and they all get Tivo'd every week. :-)

Well, except for Flip This House with <a href="http://www.aetv.com/flipthishouse/flip2_flipteams.jsp">Amando Montelongo</a>. He's just an @$$ and I can't delete that show fast enough.

The sleaze factor with that one is appalling. My favorite episode was when they bought the cheap beat up rentals (5?), fixed them, resold them to former renters using a housing assistance group to help the buy and threw a community party with BBQ, band, etc paid for by the other non-profit and then sold the remaining 2 or 3 homes out of the five to an investor below the price he sold it to the low-income housing assistance people and promoted it all as a giant charitable deal.

Education 101, it really was good and frankly everybody should watch it to see the BS behind a bunch of the deals and the way assistance programs, IHMO, can be abused.

"Flipping Out" on Bravo is a hoot. Jeff Lewis isn't a very likeable guy, but he kind of grows on you. It seems that he has been trying to diversify by managing projects for clients rather than exclusively flipping homes. Maybe this strategy will carry him through the down market.

Flipping Out is one of my favorite shows.

You have to understand his humor though to appreciate it.

He cracks me up!

Jeff is sooo much fun to watch. I feel sorry for Zoila and Jenni though.. I can't believe that Season 2 is already over (finale is tomorrow night).

Now we have a new show that reflects the "current economic conditions", called <a href="http://tvdecoder.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/07/10/coming-soon-hope-for-your-home/">Hope For Your Home</a>.

<a href="http://thefutoncritic.com/news.aspx?id=20080731tlc01">More info here</a>...

<em>"In a slow, or dare I say declining real estate market, it is important to set yourself apart from other homes on the market when yours is listed for sale. If you need to refinance, the same holds true," explains Kirsten. "Fortunately, there are high impact low cost improvements homeowners can achieve over a weekend with help from friends and family, which we'll share with our viewers each week on this new series."

Kirsten, a veteran realtor, author and real estate expert, and owner of a successful design company, offers these five tips for all homeowners to consider that can increase the value of their property, especially in the current economic climate.</em>

The thing is ...Jeff Lewis actually has very good taste. I like his whole Mediterranean simplistic style with lots of open space.

I think he could thrive as a home decorator.

I do like Jeff's taste; however, I think I like his business partner's (Ryan) taste better. Ryan makes his homes feel more cozy and inviting. Jeff has a simplistic style (if that's the correct wording). Sometimes you just need a bit more to make it more of a home. Otherwise it looks like a model home.

Oh, and I think there will be a third season. The show is very popular. (I hope so anyway).

Don't forget to record next Tuesday's Reunion Show. Your Tivo might not pick it up automatically. The Reunion Shows are always funny.
